A PLEASANT SUNDAY
The Pleasant Sunday was a familiar ritual during the 1960s and 1970s at Victoria Park. Rehabilitation would generally consist of a few beers and a cooked breakfast. Sunday May 7 will be 125 years to the day since Collingwood played its first ever game of football. So we've arranged an old-fashioned 'Pleasant Sunday' at our spiritual home to mark the occasion.
WE ARE RE-IGNITING THE TRADITION.. AND WE WANT YOU TO JOIN US!
What better way to unwind after our anniversary game against Carlton on Saturday May 6, and the 125th Gala Ball at Palladium that previous night, than with a relaxed, fun Pleasant Sunday at Victoria Park?
It should be a fun, relaxed day for all the Collingwood family at our old home ground.
The action kicks off at 11.00am - Victoria Park
ON THE DAY
VFL GAME - PIES V NORTHERN BLUES
Our VFL team will play Carlton's Northern Blues that day (game starts at 1pm) and there will be plenty of social activities around the game itself.
FOOD TRUCKS & STALLS
And a variety of food trucks and stalls will provide a carnival atmosphere, that will have the whole family asking for more!
Past players will be on hand to sign copies of our special 125th book, Champions of Collingwood.
RING OF VIC PARK BELL
Then, at half-time of the VFL game, we'll have a ceremonial ringing of the old Victoria Park bell to mark the moment 125 years ago when Collingwood first took to the field.
GOT AN OLD GUERNSEY?
There will be a competition for fans to wear their old Collingwood guernseys, with a prize going to the oldest jumper on show.
Our experts from the Archives will be there 'Antiques Roadshow' style to assess or value any items of memorabilia you'd like to bring in to show them or donate (photos will do for big items!).
