In 2017, Collingwood Football Club celebrates 125 years of the famous black and white stripes.
The journey from suburban laughing stock to AFL powerhouse has been a remarkable one – and one worth celebrating. In 2017, as Collingwood turns 125, that's exactly what we'll be doing. Most of the celebrations will focus around the weekend of May 6-7. For it was on May 7, 1892, that the newly formed Collingwood Football Club played its first ever official senior game of football. That game, ironically enough, was against the team that would go on to become our fiercest rival, Carlton. So it is only fitting that our 125th anniversary game – to be played on Saturday 6 May – will once more be against the Blues.
